DIY Chalkboard

This is an easy project, especially if you can convince your significant other to help like I did. First we cut a piece of quarter inch plywood to the size we wanted the chalkboard to be.  Next we pained it using chalkboard paint.

Next we cut trim to go on each side of the chalkboard then painted it.

We used finishing nails to hang the trim over the painted plywood.

I used caulk and filed in the spaces between the pieces of trim and to cover the finishing nail holes then I did some touch up painting after it dried.

Spray Paint Concrete Blocks

There are a TON of rocks in the yard at the campground that I have a seasonal spot.  We have a bar shed there and wanted a walkway from the deck to the bar shed.

Of course I wanted it to be inexpensive but cute so I bought boring old concrete blocks for about $3 each.  I bought a large stencil from Hobby Lobby and used the Hobby Lobby app coupon for 40% off so it was about $10.  I bought a few can of spray paint from Walmart.  I placed the stencil on the concrete block and centered it then I spray painted it.

After the blocks dried I placed them on the rocks.  A cute easy path to the bar shed!

DIY Headboard

This headboard is easy to make and costs about $30.

First we started with quarter inch plywood.  We had some extra sheets in the garage leftover from another project but they are only about $10 at a home improvement store.  We wanted a simple design but you can design the headboard any way you want.  We cut the plywood to the size and shape we wanted it.

After cutting it we staples quilt batting to the wood making sure there were not any bunched up pieces.  The quilt batting was $29.99 regular price at Hobby Lobby but we used the Hobby Lobby app coupon for 40% off.

At this point we are about $10 in on the plywood and $15 in on the quilt batting so we chose a cheaper fabric that was on sale to cover the headboard with.  The colors were perfect and we kind of just got lucky with this find.  I would recommend using the fabric that is on the big rolls hanging up at fabric store instead of the cheaper lighter fabric.

We placed the fabric over the headboard and ironed out all the wrinkles and creases.  This is important because you want the fabric to be smooth.

Next we laid out the fabric upside down on the ground and put the quilt batting side of the headboard on top of the fabric and stapled the fabric to the board.  After it was stapled we cut the excess fabric and batting off the back.

We used a few finishing nails to attach the headboard to the wall behind our bed.

DIY Painted Wine Glasses

This is an easy project that has the cutest results.

First I bought wine glasses at Goodwill for a dollar.  I know you could buy them at the Dollar Tree or even buy nicer ones if you want but I was at Goodwill so that's where I bought them.

I cleaned the outside of the glass with rubbing alcohol to make sure it was really clean.

I printed out the design I wanted to paint on them and taped it to the inside of the glass.

I used ENAMEL paint!  This is very important.  DON'T just use acrylic paint.

I used regular paint brushes and these foam dotters.

Then I just traced the design one color at a time.  In between colors I let the glass sit for about an hour or so to dry.  If I messed up I used rubbing alcohol and a q-tip or toothpick to fix the mistake.  After the paint was dry I put them in a cool oven and turned it to 350 degrees.  After 30 minutes I turned the oven off and when it was cool I took the glasses out.

Ta Da!!!!  Easy and cute.  I especially like to feel the texture of the painted dots on the glass while I drink wine.

Old T-Shirts Turned Into Wall Art

My significant other had a few old t-shirts that had sentimental value and we didn't want them just left in a box in the guest room closet.  I decided to turn them into wall art.  My significant other decided to hang these in the garage.

I bought canvas on sale at Hobby Lobby.

My significant other did not want me to cut the shirts otherwise I would have cut them down so they were slightly bigger than the canvas however he did not want to damage them.  I put the canvas in the shirt and used a staple gun to staple the back of the t-shirt to the back of the canvas.

I had to fold the extra material in order to staple it.

These are the front of them after they are stapled on the back.
